Ollama-Terminal-Agent is a tool that runs on your Windows computer. It uses a local AI model (called a large language model or LLM) to help you perform tasks in the terminal. It can fix mistakes on its own and work with files, all without needing an internet connection.
You do not need to know programming to use this tool. It automates simple jobs you might do in the command line, like creating files or running commands based on your instructions.

To run Ollama-Terminal-Agent on Windows, you need:
- Windows 10 or newer (64-bit recommended)
- At least 4 GB of RAM
- Minimum 2 GHz dual-core processor
- 500 MB free disk space for the application
- Installed Ollama software with at least one local LLM model available

Download the Application
On the GitHub page, find the "Releases" section in the right sidebar or top menu.
Download the latest Windows release file. It will usually be a.ziparchive or an.exeinstaller. -
Install the Application

If you downloaded a
.zipfile:- Right-click the file and choose "Extract All".
- Extract it to a folder you can find easily, like your Desktop or Documents.

.exeinstaller:- Double-click the file to start the installation.
- Follow the prompts on the screen and finish the installation.

Verify Installation
Open Command Prompt or PowerShell:
- Press
Windows + R, typecmdorpowershell, and press Enter. - Type
ollama-terminal-agent --helpand press Enter.
If installed correctly, you will see a help message listing commands.

This tool runs in the Windows terminal. You type commands, and the AI completes tasks.
- Open Command Prompt or PowerShell.
- Use the command:
ollama-terminal-agent run "Your instructions here"
Example:ollama-terminal-agent run "Create a to-do list for tomorrow." - The agent will process the instruction and complete the task locally.
You can ask the agent to read or modify files:
ollama-terminal-agent run "Read the contents of file.txt and summarize it."
If a task fails or has errors, the agent tries to fix them automatically. You can rerun commands if needed.
Ollama-Terminal-Agent uses the Ollama local AI models. You can choose different models using the --model option:
ollama-terminal-agent run --model llama2 "Write a summary of this text."
Check the available models on your computer by running:
ollama models list
You can also adjust settings in the configuration file located in the installation folder. The config file allows you to set default models, task timeout, and file paths.
- Make sure Ollama is installed and running on your computer.
- Check that you have at least one AI model downloaded in Ollama.
- Confirm you have the right Windows version and sufficient system resources.
- Try running your Command Prompt or PowerShell as Administrator.
- Ensure the file paths and command syntax are correct.
- Check the Ollama-Terminal-Agent logs in the
logsfolder inside the installation directory. They may point to the problem.
- Re-run the command with clearer instructions.
- Restart your terminal and try again.
- Verify your Ollama model is working properly by running a simple command using Ollama directly.
