mindkeeper acts like a time machine for your AI’s memory. When you use an AI assistant or agent, it keeps track of its thinking and knowledge in context files. mindkeeper stores copies of these files so you can see how they change over time. If a mistake happens, you can roll back to an older, better version.
This tool is useful for anyone using AI agents who want to manage and control their data better. It supports snapshotting, diffing (showing changes), and rollback in a simple way.

📂 Using mindkeeper
mindkeeper lets you work with AI context files through simple commands.
Take a snapshot
To save the current state of your AI context files, run:
mindkeeper snapshot
This creates a new snapshot labeled with the current date and time.
List snapshots
To see previous snapshots, run:
mindkeeper list
This will show all saved versions with their timestamps.
See differences
To compare two snapshots, run:
mindkeeper diff <snapshot1> <snapshot2>
Replace <snapshot1> and <snapshot2> with the IDs or names from the list command. This shows what changed between those versions.
Roll back to an older snapshot
To restore files to a previous state, run:
mindkeeper rollback <snapshot>
Replace <snapshot> with the snapshot name or ID you want to restore.
⚙️ Using mindkeeper as an OpenClaw plugin
If you use OpenClaw, mindkeeper can be a plugin to track AI context silently.
How to enable
Install mindkeeper as usual.
In your OpenClaw setup, add mindkeeper as a plugin according to OpenClaw’s instructions.
mindkeeper will then automatically snapshot your AI agent context files as they change.
Check OpenClaw’s plugin usage guide for details on enabling third-party plugins.
🧰 Troubleshooting
mindkeeper does not start: Check that your antivirus or Windows Defender is not blocking the program. Try running as administrator.
Cannot find snapshots: Make sure you are running mindkeeper commands in the folder where your AI context files are stored.
Error messages: Use the --help flag to check command usage or reinstall the latest version.
Windows compatibility issues: Confirm you are on Windows 10 or later and have required permissions.
